Amyga Foundation turns 5 today!

Updated: Nov 8

5 years ago, when we embarked on our journey to make World-class education available free of cost to rural children, we had no experience in education, working in rural India or running a social venture! All we knew was that we wanted to make a positive difference in the lives of the children we touched through our work.

Friends and acquaintances wished us good luck, some warned us about partnering with the Government, and some even told us that this would never work ! But we had made up our minds and there was no going back.

Today, as we look back upon our growth from 1 Anganwadi with 15 children to 20 Anganwadis with 500 students over the last 5 years, we are filled with a sense of happiness, fulfillment and most of all, gratitude.

There are many people who have helped us touch the lives of over 1000 students. We would like to place on record, our gratitude and appreciation for

1.      The Government officials in the District Administration, Department of Women and Child Development/ICDS in Krishnagiri, Kolar and Chamarajanagar Districts. Many Government officials that we have worked with are very committed to the development of their Districts and when they understood how keen we were to work for their people, they offered us all the support they could. This is public-private partnership in the true sense of the term.

2.      Our donors who have supported us every year since inception, have given us the confidence to scale and grow.

3.      Our corporate sponsors /CSR partners opened new doors for us to offer world-class facilities in addition to world-class education in the Anganwadis we support

4.      The invaluable contribution of our amazing team of dedicated and committed volunteers has helped us overcome the challenges of offering world-class English medium education in rural areas where skilled resources are not readily available. Be it waking up at 4 am for a class or teaching despite their illness or hectic schedule, they have done it all

5.      Thanks to our academic partner, Kreedo Early Childhood Solutions who made us fall in love with the Montessori method of teaching and provided us with a structured framework, we have been able to achieve excellent results

6.      Our Infrastructure partner, Mr. Richard, Mr. Samidurai and their staff have offered us their unstinted support in providing excellent facilities in the Anganwadis

7.      As in any Organization, our people are our strongest assets – our teachers, trainers and managers. But for our amazing team, Amyga would still be a dream!

Gratefully yours,

Lakshmi and Dharmarajan
